The Gareth Roberts Fund is in memory of a young Welsh rally co-driving star, known to all by his enduring nickname Jaffa, who was tragically killed in a freak accident on the Targa Florio Rally in Sicily in June 2012. He was just 24-years old.
Out of the darkest moments comes the brightest light – and this is true of The Gareth Roberts Fund, which was created to help those who have been hospitalised and/or forced to miss work because of injuries they’ve sustained following an accident on a rally.
The Fund was initially set up by former co-driver Phil Pugh, two of Gareth’s best friends Rhys Lloyd and Owain Davies and Gareth’s brother Dai Roberts. It now also has the day-to-day active support of two more of Wales’ finest co-drivers, Howard Davies and Craig Parry.
It’s hoped that the Fund will develop into a life-long reminder that despite its dangers, rallying is a very special sport – with competitors and fans keen to support each other in times of need.
Wales Rally GB also honour’s Gareth’s memory by annually awarding ‘The Croeso Trophy in memory of Gareth Roberts' to the highest placed all-Welsh crew.
Please take a look around the site and see what great work the Fund does. All donations are gratefully received, so if you can spare a little to help a very worthwhile cause, please click on the DONATE page above, or click here.
